Flewid is a chunky, bookish new magazine exploring – unsurprisingly – gender fluidity.
There's more to that name than a phonetic misspelling. 'Flew' is the past tense of to fly or flying, and is attached to the Freudian notion of the id, the unconscious part of the human psyche that generates desire. So we're in quite lofty territory; at one time there wasn't much material dealing in gender issues yet today there's a wave of publishing. Fortunately Flewid is not shallow, even it if it has coffee table qualities. In addition to it's impressive physical production and outstanding photography there's a shrew intellect marshalling a wide range of fascinating, often radical personalities and their attendant life stories through its pages.
